AME BC Mineral Exploration Roundup
Date: January 24-27, 2011
Place: TBA

|
|
The 2010 Mining for Miracles Campaign official launch took place at the Association of Mineral Explorers of BC Mineral Exploration Roundup. It was a great conference attended by over 5,800 delegates. Delegates attending learned about the next great mineral discoveries in BC and around the world, had the opportunity to visit with Buddy the Miner and the Olympic Mascots, mix it up with Mining Professionals, Students and children interested in Mineral Exploration, and be one of the first people to buy tickets to the Diamond Package Draw.
Graham Kerr, President BHP Billiton Canada, presented a 1.53ct diamond from the EKATI diamond mine as part of the Diamond Package Draw. Andrew Costen of Costen Catbalue Goldsmiths, who will design the jewelry for the lucky winner was on hand at the presentation. Twenty-four volunteers from The Greater Vancouver Mining Women’s Association (GVWMA) sold Diamond Package Draw tickets over the four days. These same volunteers also sold copies of The McLeod Luck, the proceeds of which were donated by Don McLeod of International Northair Resources Ltd. in support of the Mining for Miracles Campaign. It is a great read and provides unique insight into the history of exploration, development and mining in BC. Lastly, Artha Resources were selling tickets to win two 1kg bars of silver, the proceeds of which also go to the Mining for Miracles Campaign!
All in all, it was a great conference and a successful start to the 2010 Mining for Miracles Campaign. Hope to see you there next year!
Mineral Exploration Roundup 2011 is scheduled for January 24 - 27, 2011.
Looking forward to seeing you all then!

Mining Executive Dinner
Date: Thursday, March 18, 2010
Place: BC Children’s Hospital Research Building
 |
For the past 4-years Finning Canada has generously sponsored an Executive Dinner to raise awareness among busy mining executives about the work being done at BC Children’s Hospital and the need to raise funds to improve the health care available to the children of BC.
In 2009 the Executive Dinner was a reception and dinner held at the Hospital which provided executives the opportunity to learn about what is going on at the hospital, hear from their peers about how they got involved in raising funds, and to learn about the different ways to set-up your corporate and individual fundraising campaigns. In 2009 Boyd Payne, former CEO Elk Valley Coal and Teck’s current Coal Business Unit leader, provided a rousing summary of how important it is to get involved and consider supporting BC Children’s Hospital.
This year the Executive Dinner is again sponsored by Finning Canada. It will be held on Thursday March, 18 at BC Children’s Hospital and will be attended by researchers, doctors and nurses from the hospital as well as your colleagues from the mining industry. If you are interested in attending, and finding out firsthand how important your donations can be, please contact us to reserve your spot.

BCCH’s Miracle Weekend Telethon
Date: Sunday, June 5-6, 2010
Place: BC Children’s Hospital

2009 Mining for Miracle Campaign Total = $1,158,538!!! Congratulations to BC’s Mining
Industry for their continued support of BC Children’s Hospital. Tune into the Mining for Miracles Cheque Presentation at the BC Children’s Miracle Weekend Telethon on Global TV around 4pm on the afternoon of Sunday June 6. Colin Joudrie, accompanied by a team of volunteers and special guests of BC’s Mining Industry, will make another special live presentation of the 2010 Mining for Miracles Campaign fundraising efforts. Last year was a TV first when Celina Sookachoff and Kea Barker, both long-time champions of the Mining for Miracle Campaign and representatives of the BC Mining Industry, found it fitting to double pie Colin on live TV just before presenting a cheque for $1,158,153 to BC Children’s Hospital. What fun!
Over the last twenty-two years, BC’s Mining Industry has raised $13.9M helping BC Children’s Hospital meet the critical needs of children in BC. In 2009 the funds raised helped complete a $3M funding campaign to construct a bio-containment lab at the hospital to research the impact of infectious disease in children. In 2010 the Mining for Miracles Campaign is raising funds for an advanced MRI system which will become a critical component of a diagnostic imaging and care facility at BC Children’s. Further, if all goes well, BC’s Mining Industry is poised to reach the $15M mark in funds raised for the children of British Columbia. Come and help celebrate the Mining Industry of BC’s support for a world class health care facility.
